About Dorset Wildlife Trust

About Us

  • We manage nature reserves for the good of wildlife in Dorset
  • We influence decision makers and others who affect wildlife
  • We stand up for wildlife against development threats
  • We seek to improve public appreciation of wildlife

Our priorities & challenges

  • To reverse the continuing loss of habitats and wildlife species from Dorset.
  • Dorset’s incredible marine wildlife is under threat. We need greater protection of sea life now.
  • Demand for housing is putting areas at risk where wildlife flourishes. We will act as wildlife champions protecting against poor development plans.
  • Climate change may greatly affect Dorset’s habitats and wildlife. We are working to help wildlife adapt to climate change through our Living Landscapes programme.

Volunteering

Steve DavisOur volunteering programme is run by Steve (pictured left), a batty type with a passion for Yeovil Town football club! Steve is the first port of call for any new volunteers, and manages the involvement of volunteers throughout the Trust.

Our tasks are open to anyone, of any age – we don’t restrict it to young people, although be prepared for lots of enthusiastic 16 -25 year olds to be running around with seemingly endless amounts of energy! The V-team was formed in April 2008 as part of the Vinvolved project supporting young people’s volunteering opportunities with Dorset Wildlife Trust. Our aim is to provide a wide variety of opportunities that will apeal to all volunteers.

We have a great bunch of volunteers who have developed a fantastic rapport with each other. They all really enjoy their volunteering, and would welcome anyone wanting to give it a go. Have a look at our Volunteering HQ page on our website, and if you would like to join the team on their next jaunt into the wilds of Dorset, why not drop us a line to sdavis@dorsetwildlife.co.uk or call us on 01202 642788. We would love to hear from you!

I like this but WHERE are the list of walks in Purbeck with the Dorset Wildlife Trust that I am searching for? I cannot find them anywhere on the internet.
    Thanks for your time.
